The Best Religion? What is religion? - Where did religion come from? -All religions come from God. Some people remember that and they just
have different names for God. Some people have forgotten, they only remember
the person who taught them about religion. - What is the difference between one religion and another? - First letÕs talk about how religions are the same: Basically, all
religions are the same: believe in your Creator and do good. All religions are good. Religion
teaches people that there is a Creator. Religion tells us how to worship our
Creator. Religion teaches us how to treat each other. Religion teaches us how
to pray and fast and give money to the poor. Religion teaches us to be
truthful, trustworthy, gentle and kind. The differences in religion are how to pray, how to
fast, where to go on pilgrimage to. So, why is Islam special? What is different about Islam? 1. Islam is the last religion and is sent to all people and all times. Islam is the last religion sent to humans from God. All the other
religions and Prophets were sent to certain places and certain people during
a certain time. The message was always the same but it was made especially
for that place and time and those people. Only Islam was sent for all times
and all people. It was not sent to the Arabs only, it was not sent for a
specific time. Islam was sent to humanity and is suitable until the end of
time. 2. IslamÕs holy book, the Quran, mentions things that we only now are
discovering to be true. Because the Quran is the word of God, everything mentioned in it is
true. As people discover certain things in the sciences of astronomy,
biology, embryology, geology, etc, they find that they were mentioned in the
Quran all along. 3. IslamÕs Prophet, Prophet Muhammad, is respected and admired by
those who study his life. Sometimes people, who are not Muslim, study our ProphetÕs life. They
write about how wonderful his life was. They are amazed by his kindness,
fairness, honesty, wisdom, forgiveness, intelligence, planning and strength. 4. Most people that have studied many religions choose Islam. It is hard for people that have grown up with a certain religion to
change to another religion – but not to Islam. They say they feel they
are coming back to Islam. It is hard for people who were raised with no
religion to believe – but not in Islam. They feel Islam makes perfect
sense and doesnÕt belong to a group of strangers 5. How is Prophet Muhammad related to other prophets and other
religions ? Prophet Muhammad loves and respects all the prophets. They are his
brothers. He believes they each contributed to the construction and the beautifying
of the building of faith and that he, being the last Prophet, is the missing
corner stone in it. |
